Occupationalpensionschemes:trustees'responsibilities
Pensions are an important consideration for all and become more so the older you get but what are the rules?
Trustees appointed to run an occupational pension scheme take on a genuine position of trust and responsibility. Their duties include acting in the best interests of members, making sure scheme assets are properly invested and safeguarded, keeping accurate records and accounts, and ensuring the scheme is administered in line with its rules and current pensions legislation.
Because trustees remain personally accountable even where day-to-day administration is outsourced, good governance and clear processes matter enormously. We work with trustees and scheme sponsors to review documentation, support annual reporting and audit requirements, and help ensure the scheme stands up to scrutiny from members and the Pensions Regulator alike.
