All Specialist areas factsheets

The Community Amateur Sports Club scheme allows qualifying local sports clubs to register with HMRC and access a range of tax reliefs similar to those enjoyed by charities, without needing to become a registered charity themselves. To qualify, a club generally needs to be open to the whole community, run on an amateur basis, and organised so that its income supports its sporting purpose.

Registered clubs can benefit from reliefs on trading income, property income and gifts, alongside Gift Aid on qualifying donations, but the conditions must be maintained on an ongoing basis to keep the status. We help sports clubs assess whether CASC registration suits them and support the accounting and reporting that comes with maintaining it.
